Welcome to Tahir Rice Mills

Pakistan is the world's fourth largest producer of rice, after China, India and Thailand. With an average yearly production of 6 million tonnes, around one million tonne is exported to country's all around the globe. Together with the rest of South Asia, the country is responsible for supplying 30% of the world's paddy rice output. Most of these crops are grown in the fertile Sindh and Punjab region. Known for its flavor, aroma and quality, the Basmati is among the most famous varieties grown in the country. By virtue of its geographical position, water and soil quality plus special weather conditions, this rice is different from other rice varieties. It is grown only in Northern Pakistani Punjab.

Pakistani Basmati rice has a very different aroma and taste from Chinese and Thai Jasmine rice. There are many "knock off" varieties grown in the US and other countries, but none match authentic Punjabi basmati for flavour, aroma, texture, and appearance. Basmati contains the natural, 2 actyl-1-Pyrolline content of PPM 0.06, which brings its unique aroma, unmatched by any other rice in the world.
